Student Services FAQs

Our internet and services are built to support all major technology brands. For specific laptop recommendations/requirements please visit our Hardware page for more information.

Computer prices are very competitive and can be purchased from any local retailer at a competitive price. Some brands provide additional discounts for students with proof of a .edu e-mail address or student ID card. For software, the Emmanuel College Bookstore provides discounted student software on their website.

No. We provide printing services for all students in the Library Learning Commons, Jean Yawkey Student Center and all residential buildings. If a student would prefer the convenience of printing in their room, we do allow student-owned personal printers to be connected by a wired connection as wireless printers are not compatible with our network.

Service to student-owned devices is limited primarily to ensuring network connectivity. This includes assistance installing and troubleshooting issues related to your internet connection and virus removal. Assistance beyond this is provided as “best effort” to give advice to assist a student in fixing a problem themselves or to use a local repair store, such as Micro Center. The IT Helpdesk does not purchase, install, or repair student hardware.

Emmanuel IT provides five free licenses of Microsoft Office to each student which can be accessed and downloaded through their Office 365 account. This includes products like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Other academic software is determined by program and access will be provided with assistance from faculty.

Yes! The Emmanuel College IT Helpdesk onboards student workers before the academic year begins. This opportunity provides them training and skills to support the community successfully. For information about joining our team, contact the IT Helpdesk directly.

Emmanuel's wireless network, Eduroam, is available and accessible on campus as well as select surrounding areas and campuses. Wired connection is not available to students in the residence halls.

For issues with username or password, many of our services provide a "Forgot My Username" or “Reset My Password" link. If these links do not help, please contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance.

Yes. We provide computers for public use in the reference area of the Cardinal Cushing Library Learning Commons. There are also computer stations located in the lobby area of Loretto, St. Ann, and St. Joseph Residence Halls.
