Students can pay their $500 non-refundable housing deposit by visiting the Emmanuel College Housing Deposit Marketplace.

Housing and meal plan prices are available here. The prices for traditional residence halls include a meal plan. The stated prices for the St. Julie Hall and Notre Dame Campus do not include a meal plan. Residents of these locations may purchase a meal plan following the housing selection process.

If your family is assisting you with the cost of education, before participating in housing selection, we encourage you to review this information with your family. If you would like to live on campus but are concerned about the cost, please contact the Office of Student Financial Services at 617-735-9938 or financialservices [at] emmanuel.edu (financialservices[at]emmanuel[dot]edu) for information on the resources available to pay for on-campus housing.

Any student who does not fulfill or meet the requirements by the advertised deadline will not be eligible to participate in Housing Selection. Students who express an interest in housing will be added to the non-guaranteed housing waitlist and can only be accommodated as vacancies arise in the housing inventory.

Any student who does not fulfill or meet the three requirements by the deadline will not be eligible to participate in Housing Selection, including the group housing process. Therefore, while you may be eligible to select housing, the other student is not. If they submit the missing requirement after the March deadline, they will be added to the non-guaranteed housing waitlist and can only be accommodated as vacancies arise in the housing inventory.

In the summer, if there is an opportunity to pull the student into housing, Residence Life & Housing can attempt to place intended roommates together if space allows. It is not guaranteed that the pairing will be possible, and we encourage students to complete all required items by the advertised deadline.

As someone who plans to study abroad in the fall, you do not need to participate in the housing selection process when it opens. The Office of Residence Life & Housing will outreach to those who might be abroad, on a leave, etc. during the fall 2024 semester regarding spring 2025 housing interest.

If there are students who are uncertain about traveling or if their programs get cancelled at a later time, the Office of Residence Life & Housing will work with the Office of International Programs & Study Abroad will work together to determine the availability of Emmanuel housing on a case-by-case basis.

No, incoming and new transfer students are not eligible to participate in the returning student process. If later, there is an opportunity to place students together based on vacancies that might arise, the Office of Residence Life will work with students, though no requests can be guaranteed.

Housing selection order is based on class year seniority determined by completed and earned credits confirmed by the Registrar’s Office.  Within each class year the selection order is randomized.

Factors such as GPA, student involvement, athletics, employment, financial aid, scholarships, living-learning community participation, and housing assignment history among others do not influence selection order.  A student’s community standards history may affect housing selection options and/or eligibility.

Students who complete the requirements by the stated deadlines select housing in order of their class standing according to the Registrar (i.e. senior select first, then juniors, etc). Class standing is based upon completed and earned credits. Currently registered credits or any transfer credits not received and posted by the Office of the Registrar nor future planned credits are not factored into class standing are not factored into class standing. All individuals within a class standing group are issued randomly assigned individual lottery numbers. The date of submission for the housing lease and deposit does not factor into an individuals' lottery number.

The Office of Residence Life & Housing will e-mail students their current class standing based on earned or completed credits as provided by the Registrar. Residence Life & Housing does not manage class credits and therefore cannot make changes unless instructed by the Registrar.

Students are also able to check their class standing by logging into Student Planning, click My Progress, then view your completed credits on Student Planning on “Total Credits Bar” in the “At a Glance” section of the “My Progress” page on Student Planning. Below please find a chart explaining the color designation on the Total Credit progress bar. You may also hover over each color to view the description on the progress bar.

If transfer credit adjusts your class standing, the Registrar’s Office will notify Residence Life & Housing.  For questions concerning class standing and the status of any received transfer credit, please contact Assistant Registrar for Records, Nathaniel Ellis at ellisn [at] emmanuel.edu (ellisn[at]emmanuel[dot]edu) and copy regmail [at] emmanuel.edu (regmail[at]emmanuel[dot]edu).

Students may not be able to select their preferred building or room type.  Housing selection is a lottery process based on class year seniority.  Placement into specific buildings and room types is dependent on available inventory when the student enters the portal at their designated time to choose housing.

Yes, students can form roommate groups with students of different class years. Doing so can impact when and what type of housing inventory may be available for them to select.  Rising sophomore students are ineligible to be pulled into St. Julie Hall.

Each year there are students that do not have someone in mind with who they want to live with for the upcoming academic year. Here are some ways that students can participate as an individual:

Single occupancy space - See studio and single

Roommate Match – The Housing Director software has a Roommate Match function to allow students to find other students with similar responses to some of the housing preference questions. Students can connect and discuss if this might be a good match before committing to living together.  The Office of Residence Life & Housing will also hold Roommate Mingles in February where students will also have the opportunity to meet other students.

Room Selection and Room Placement: If individual beds are available after roommate groups select housing, individual students will have the opportunity to select those empty beds in a lottery process.  Students who are unable to choose housing during selection will be given the opportunity to designate housing preferences for the fall semester. Residence Life will place students into housing over the summer and will try to fulfill preferences, when possible, but housing placements cannot be guaranteed.

Housing demand varies from year to year. It is not until the assignment process begins that the College is able to understand actual demand for Emmanuel housing since some students may make alternate arrangements between the start of the process and when room selections are made.  If there is more interest than inventory, some students will be placed on a waitlist. The student account will reflect a standard double room with a meal plan on the billing statement for planning purposes. A specific housing assignment will be provided over the summer.  Once the office processes housing cancellations from other students starting mid-June 2024, we will determine the housing assignments for students with a temporary placement. This could be located within other College-owned inventory as space provides or at a satellite location.  If the student is placed on the waitlist and they have a roommate request, they will be asked to provide that information at a later date so Residence Life & Housing can work to place the students together as spaces allows.
