Student Services FAQs

Our internet and services are built to support all major technology brands. We have students using both Apple and Windows computers, including HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus and Sony. This choice is based on student preference and cost value.

Computer prices are very competitive and can be purchased from any local retailer at a competitive price. Some brands provide additional discounts for students with proof of a .edu e-mail address or student ID card. For software, the Emmanuel College Bookstore provides discounted student software on their website: http://www.journeyed.com.

No. We provide printing services for all students in our library, Jean Yawkey Center and on campus dorm buildings. If a student would prefer the convenience of printing in their residence hall room, we allow student-owned personal printers. Personal printers must be connected by a wired connection and can’t be used wirelessly.

The IT Helpdesk supports only network connectivity to our internet. This includes assistance installing and troubleshooting issues related to your internet connection and virus removal. Assistance beyond this is provided as “best effort” to give advice to assist a student in fixing a problem themselves or to use a local repair store (such as Best Buy, only minutes away). The IT Helpdesk does not purchase, install or repair student hardware.

Emmanuel IT provides five free licenses of Microsoft Office to each student which can be accessed and downloaded through their Office 365 accounts. This includes products like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and OneNote. Other class specific software is determined by each professor and they will provide the best way to access it.

Emmanuel IT hires students prior to every school year to learn about technology and provide support to the community. For information about joining our team, contact the IT Helpdesk.

Only wireless connection is available and is accessible on campus as well as select surrounding areas and schools.

For issues with username or password, many of our services provide a “Forgot my username” or “Forgot my password” link. If these links do not help, contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance.

Yes. We provide computers in our library for public use, both in the Reference Area and our Computer Lab. There are also computer stations located in the lobby area of each residence hall for student use.

Yes. Tablets and smartphones connect to our internet similar to other devices, requiring you to input your Emmanuel username and password. Once connected, you can browse the web normally.
