Emmanuel students interested in exploring internships in the Greater Boston area can now apply for a new transportation stipend to ensure they can take advantage of the dynamic and world-class opportunities available.
The stipend is made possible thanks to a generous donation from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, which will help fund up to $300 per student for off-campus travel to internship sites. The stipend will be available starting for the fall 2023 semester and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
“We’d like to thank the Enterprise team for their continued support,” said Executive Director of the Leslie Ferrick McCafferty Career Center Maureen Ashburn. “Throughout the years, Enterprise has proven to be a reliable partner, with many Emmanuel students and alumni having interned and/or been offered full-time employment with the company. This stipend serves as another example of their continued commitment to Emmanuel’s students.”
“At Enterprise Holdings, we believe that real-world experience is invaluable for any college student looking to succeed in his or her future career,” said Talent Acquisition Manager at Enterprise Holdings Don Black. “With these funds we hope that every college student has access to gain not only professional skills and knowledge, but also get to see firsthand what it takes to succeed in the industry.”
At Emmanuel, 100% of students complete an internship as part of the curriculum. While many internship sites with some of the best places to work in the country are in walking distance or a short T ride from campus, the stipend helps to ensure students interested in pursuing opportunities beyond the neighborhood remain in reach.
“We wanted to make sure that transportation costs didn’t deter our students from exploring and engaging in any of the amazing internship opportunities available to them,” said Ashburn. “This stipend provides our community with tremendous value and ensures these doors remain open.”
Interested students will be required to meet certain criteria, including being in good academic standing and enrolled in an academic department’s or the INT1010 internship course, in order to receive one of the limited stipends. Internship attributes, such as distance from campus or residence, hours and transportation access will also be taken into consideration for each candidate. Enterprise has year-round internship opportunities located throughout Boston as well as within their Management Trainee program that participate in the transportation stipend.

Counseling & health psychology major Christine came to Emmanuel knowing she wanted to pursue a career in health care, and the College’s opportunities and connections for students interested in the field—as well as a neuroscience course she attended at EC Incoming—made the decision an easy one.
