The Academic Resource Center (ARC) offers a variety of free services to students in their pursuit of academic excellence. ARC programs focus on providing students with individual attention that is the hallmark of an Emmanuel College education. 


The mission of the ARC:

  • To guide, engage, and empower students in their quest for academic success by providing varied resources and support, including peer tutoring, study groups, academic coaching, professional specialists, academic strategy programming, and disability support services.
  • To promote academic self-awareness and effective strategies to enhance student success in a thoughtful and inclusive learning environment.
  • To support the mission of the college “to educate students in a dynamic learning community” and cultivate the college’s vision of “intellectual exploration, spirited nurturing within its academic programming discourse, and substantive learning experiences beyond the classroom."

Services offered by the ARC:

Individual Peer Tutoring Sessions and Study Groups 
Peer Tutors help students master coursework and enhance their learning skills. Peer tutors are made available for key core and high-demand courses. Tutors also facilitate study groups prior to important exams.

Academic Coaching
Academic Coaches work with students individually to develop effective strategies and skills necessary for college success, including time-mangagement and study strategies. Academic strategy workshops are offered each semester. The schedule of workshops is located on ECLearn in the Learning Commons Toolbox.

Writing Assistance
Professional Writing Specialists and Writing Peer Tutors assist at any stage of the writing process in any discipline. ARC Writing Specialists offer workshops focused on strengthening college writing including use of citations and writing personal statements for graduate school. The schedule of workshops is located on ECLearn in the Learning Commons Toolbox.

Math/Science Assistance
Math and Science Peer Tutors provide assistance to enhance students' understanding of math, science, nursing, and test strategies for a variety of courses.

Graduate School and Fellowship Preparation
Academic Coaches and Writing Specialists offer guidance with graduate school and fellowship applications. This includes assisting students with navigating timelines, understanding the basic demands of graduate school exams, and refining personal statements.

Disability Support Services
The ARC works closely with Disability Support Services to provide comprehensive academic support for students with documented disabilities.

ARC Services for GPP/Nursing Programs
The ARC offers select academic support services to meet the needs of Emmanuel Graduate Studies/Nursing Program students.
