Application Forms

  2. Application For Students To Attend Conferences
  3. Application For Faculty-Student Research Funds (submitted by faculty supervisor)
  4. Application For Faculty Scholarship and Creative Activities

Purpose

To support professional development of faculty, including:

  • Presenting scholarly papers and other professional work at professional conferences. The purpose of this support is to give faculty who are developing their scholarship or artistic work an opportunity to present this work for evaluation and criticism to their scholarly communities. As a result of this activity it is expected that the faculty member's scholarship and teaching will be advanced and made known to a wider audience.
  • Scholarship and creative activities that require faculty expenditure, travel, access to libraries, equipment, software, etc. The purpose of this funding is to support faculty who are engaged in research or creative work in their fields. This is meant to supplement outside funding.
  • Attendance at workshops, courses, etc. that enhance faculty competence in their disciplines. This support is meant to allow faculty to remain current in their fields, It is incumbent upon faculty applying for these funds to demonstrate the clear relevance of the program to their professional development as teachers and/or scholars.
  • Disciplinary activities such as elected officers of a scholarly association who are attending an annual meeting and are involved in the governance of the association and attendance at conferences that enable faculty to keep in touch with developments in their fields.

Funding

These four categories are in order of priority, although funding cannot be guaranteed for any proposal. Faculty presenting scholarly work at a professional conference may be funded up to a maximum of $1,500. Other requests may be funded up to a maximum of $500. No faculty member may receive more than $1,500 in an academic year. In the distribution of funding, the committee will try to ensure that funding is distributed equitably across the faculty. Requests from faculty who have not received funding in the recent past may be given priority. A particular effort will be made to ensure that junior faculty is supported in ways that will promote their development as scholars.

Deadlines

Priority will be given to requests received prior to September 15th for fall semester, December 15thfor spring semester and April 15th for summer funding. Requests received after these dates will be considered if funding is still available.
