Dr. Riley is Professor and Chair, Department of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston College School of Nursing, her Master of Science in Nursing from Boston University, her Doctor of Education from University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Since 1994, she has provided leadership for the Department of Nursing at Emmanuel College. She is the co-founder of the Nursing Ethics Network, whose goal is the advancement of ethics knowledge for practicing nurses. She is Vice Chair, Massachusetts Association of Colleges of Nursing. Her program of research focuses on ethics and leadership. Dr. Riley has received funding for research in nursing ethics and nursing scholarship. She was awarded a fellowship in medical ethics at Harvard Medical School and was designated as an American Organization of Nurse Executive Scholar by American Nurses Foundation. In the last five years, she has presented her research regionally, nationally, and internationally. As a spokesperson in nursing, she has been invited to give presentations for professional organizations, higher education, and practice settings on topics of scholarship, leadership, and ethics. She has published in peer reviewed and other professional journals. Dr. Riley has held membership and leadership roles in a wide range of professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing.
