As a young girl I fell in love with the New England Aquarium instantaneously, from its marine organisms to its commitment to conservation. While studying at Emmanuel, I established a personal goal to intern at this prestigious institution, and I am grateful to have achieved it.
Through the American Lobster Aquaculture Internship I assisted in caring for hundreds of larval and juvenile lobsters by checking and collecting data, and feeding the animals. I also had a special opportunity to participate in a research project examining juvenile American lobsters with Epizootic Shell Disease (ESD). My experience with the Aquarium equipped me with skills necessary to succeed by nourishing my inquisitive mind and encouraging me to seek answers to issues surrounding marine life.
With critical thought and creativity at the heart of an Emmanuel education, the College has undoubtedly prepared me for the next stage in my life, which is to pursue graduate studies within the field of marine biology.
