Teacher, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission Grammar School
I chose to teach at the Mission Grammar School because of the educational philosophy, coupled with the school’s sense of community, social justice and spirituality. These are the very same values I took from my Emmanuel education. I learned that I needed to look beyond my own world, and at Mission Grammer, we teach that philosophy to our students.
I am so grateful to be able to remain connected with Emmanuel through the College’s partnership with Mission Grammar. As an alumni chaperone, I traveled to Phoenix, AZ with current students during Emmanuel’s Alternative Spring Break. I plan to weave this volunteer activity into my curriculum, so that the students will learn from my experience. I hope to set an example for them that service is an important part of education.
