Join us for Family Weekend 2018, October 12th to the 14th! During the weekend, families and friends will have the opportunity to participate in Emmanuel's rich traditions, to experience and celebrate the talents of our students, hear from some of our faculty, and to explore all that Boston has to offer. Events including Research Opportunities at Emmanuel, the Senior Cap and Gown Ceremony, and tours of Historic Boston allow you to spend time with your student, meet members of the faculty and staff, and feel the vibrant spirit of our community.

    Join members of HUELLAS, our Latinx student organization, for an evening of music, dancing and food! Music includes selections from all around the world, especially from the Afro-Latinx community. It is sure to be an evening of fun and great exercise for all ages! Cost: No Charge

    7:00p.m Ticket Pick up from an Emmanuel representative at the theater. Look for the gold name tag.
    7:30 p.m. Showtime
    Blue Man Group will rock your world. Blow your mind. And unleash your spirit. It won’t call your mom on her birthday. Or will it? (Do you want it to?) Leave your expectations at the door and let three bald and blue men take you on a spectacular journey bursting with music, laughter and surprises. The Charles Playhouse, located in the heart of the Theatre District, is the longtime Boston home of Blue Man Group. 35 million people of all ages, languages and cultures know what Blue Man Group is really about. Now it’s your turn. Please note that the tickets are in the “poncho section,” where audience members may get wet from water used in the show (the ponchos are provided). Transportation will not be provided as there is parking available close by and the venue is accessible by MBTA. We urge you to consult the Charles Street Playhouse Website for directions and transportation options.

    JYCCL Conference Room
    The kiddiECorner will offer families who wish to attend one of the weekend’s many programs or traditions an alternative for their younger children. Younger children and adolescents who participate in the kiddiECorner will be able to partake in several different October-themed activities including pumpkin painting, trick-or-treat bag making and photos with Halo, the College’s mascot!

    Fenway Park Tour
    Visit historic Fenway Park, where the Babe pitched, The Kid hit, Yaz dazzled and today’s stars still thrill Red Sox fans. Participants will meet in the Jean Yawkey Center Atrium and walk to the park for the 10:30 a.m. tour. Tours last approximately one hour.
    Cost: $15.00 per person. $10.00 for 12 years old or younger.
    PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE RED SOX MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, THIS TOUR MAY BE CANCELLED. A REFUND WILL BE ISSUED.

    The Junior Ring and Tassel Ceremony is an important tradition for juniors at Emmanuel as they celebrate their status as upper-class students. Juniors participating in the ceremony select an alumnus, alumna or current senior to present them with their ring and/or tassel and support them in their continued success at Emmanuel.

    Jeffery Malavasi, DiscoveryLab Technology and Innovation specialist will be on hand to answer questions about one of the College’s newest and most innovative spaces, where students, staff and faculty can collaborate on projects as well as experiment with emerging design techniques and equipment

    Greater Boston Food Bank Service Opportunity
    Join Emmanuel College students in volunteering at the Greater Food Boston Food Bank. Bus transportation will be provided from the front of Yawkey Center at 12:30 p.m. All volunteers must be 16 years of age and older regardless of parental permission or attendance. Any volunteer under 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. All volunteers must wear CLOSED-TOE SHOES (no sandals or flip flops) as we are working in a warehouse. Those wearing open-toed shoes will not be allowed to volunteer.

    Senior Cap and Gown Ceremony
    Dating back to the first graduating class, the Class of 1923, the Cap and Gown Ceremony has historically marked the beginning of senior year. The ceremony provides an opportunity for seniors to don their caps and gowns and recognizes their status as seniors at Emmanuel.

    Whale Watch
    Cruise to Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary at the mouth of Massachusetts Bay. Stellwagen Bank is designated as one of the top 10 whale watch sites in the world. Three to four hours of Listening, Looking and Learning about whales and other marine life. Transportation and parking will not be provided as the location is accessible by MBTA. For directions, go to www.bostonharborcruises.com Please note that if you take part in the Whale Watch you will not be back to campus in time for Liturgy and Brunch.

    Crimes of the Commonwealth Tour
    Dr. Janese Free, assistant professor of sociology, leads this bus and walking tour, which will take participants to some of Boston’s most infamous crime scenes. Participants will meet at the Jean Yawkey Center. May not be suitable for those under 13 years of age.
    Cost: $10.00 per person.

    Museum of Fine Arts
    456 Huntington Avenue, Boston
    The MFA is one of the most comprehensive art museums in the world, with a collection of over 450,000 works of art. The museum allows visitors to experience the art of Ancient Egypt, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and more! This tour is self-guided. College students must have their student I.D. Meet at 1:00 p.m. at the Jean Yawkey Center for a 15-minute walk to the Museum. The Museum closes at 9:45 p.m.
    Cost: $20.00 per adult. Free with Emmanuel ID. $18.00 per person for senior citizens (65+) and non-Emmanuel College students/youth.
