Marketing Program Strategist, Youth Marketing Connection

Samantha MartinTo say that Samantha was involved during her time at Emmanuel would be an understatement-she went all in. Key ingredients to Samantha's success included courses that enhanced her knowledge of the field of communications; relationships with classmates, faculty and staff that influenced her personal and professional life; and leadership roles in a broad range of extracurricular activities.

A Communications and Media Studies major, Samantha was a member of Emmanuel's Honors Program and gained valuable experience within her field of interest through her coursework. She recalls a course on "Celebrity and the Mass Media" taught by Professor Andrea McDonnell as one of her favorites because of its focus on theories behind celebrity and fan culture. 

On campus, Samantha gave weekly tours as an Admissions Ambassador, served as a research assistant to Academic Affairs during her senior year, and starred in an as many theatrical productions as possible. In fact, she was involved in 14 shows during her time at Emmanuel with roles ranging from acting to stage managing, hair design and costume design. Samantha was also an orientation leader for the Class of 2019. Outside of school, she pursued her love of fashion by working as a sales associate at Charlotte Russe and managing a personal style blog called Backyard Beauty.

One of her biggest turning points came during sophomore year. After discovering Her Campus through College Fashion Week: Boston, Samantha launched an Emmanuel chapter of the new-media brand and global community for college women. (Her Campus is now comprised of 300+ campus chapters.) She secured Her Campus a position as an official club at Emmanuel and served as a campus correspondent. She also became a national intern and chapter advisor, advising other college chapters in locations from Boston to Nigeria. Prior to the end of her senior year, Samantha passed the leadership torch of the club to a new president and editor-in chief, ensuring that Her Campus continues as a vibrant aspect of the Emmanuel community.

Before graduation, Samantha also secured a full-time job as a marketing program strategist with Youth Marketing Connection, a leading millennial marketing agency that connects brands to college campuses and college students through experiential and peer-to-peer channels. In this role, she manages brand ambassadors for major fashion and lifestyle brands on different college campuses throughout the country.

Samantha's involvement at Emmanuel opened doors of opportunity that ultimately paved the way for her to land a dream job upon graduation and has provided the foundation for a successful career in the dynamic field of communications.
