2019 Emmanuel College Dance Marathon Raises More Than $100K for Boston Children’s Hospital

After another year of tireless fundraising and programming, the eighth annual Emmanuel College Dance Marathon (ECDM) raised a total of $100,148.38 to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital.

The program culminated in a 12-hour, all-night event, which began on Saturday, March 30 and lasted well into the morning on Sunday, March 31. This year's donations brought ECDM's cumulative donation total for Boston Children's Hospital to nearly $700,000, a remarkable total for a program in its eighth year.

This year's donations brought ECDM's cumulative donation total for Boston Children's Hospital to nearly $700,000, a remarkable total for a program in its eighth year.

"Emmanuel College Dance Marathon 2019 was filled with hope and inspiration," said ECDM Director of Operations Hannah Lynam '19. "We continued our commitment of raising $100,000 for Boston Children's Hospital, and we saw more students, on and off the ECDM board, understanding how important it all is, experiencing what we call 'miracle moments.'"

Dance Marathon is a nationwide, campus-based movement to raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals like Boston Children's Hospital. The funds raised by ECDM address critical areas of need at the hospital, including research and training, purchasing equipment, buying new toys for playrooms and paying for uncompensated care.

ECDM is one of the most anticipated events held at Emmanuel each year and the largest student-run philanthropic initiative overall. Last year, Emmanuel's program ranked as the #1 Dance Marathon fundraiser in Boston and in the top five in New England. Nationwide, ECDM placed among the top 20 for schools with fewer than 12,000 undergraduate students.

While the main event each March reveals the total raised since the previous year's event, the preparation is constant throughout the year.

"All of us on the ECDM19 board say we will continue fighting until childhood illness is gone," Lynam said. "I think that truly resonated with the campus this year. 'For the kids'...always."
