The College was chosen amongst a pool of nearly 600 applicants. Emmanuel was recognized as part of the Foundation's Grant Winner Celebration event held on June 6th in Woburn, Mass. Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations Larisa Pazmiño and Assistant Dean of Mission and Ministry Deirdre Bradley-Turner were in attendance to accept the award on behalf of Emmanuel.
The $100K for 100 program supports nonprofits that are based in and primarily serve Middlesex, Essex and Suffolk counties. Through this place-based initiative, Cummings Foundation aims to give back in the area where it owns commercial buildings, all of which are managed, at no cost to the Foundation, by its affiliate Cummings Properties. Founded in 1970 by Bill Cummings, the Woburn-based commercial real estate firm leases and manages 10 million square feet of space, the majority of which exclusively benefits the Foundation.
Last fall, Bill Cummings served as Emmanuel's keynote speaker at its annual Academic Convocation, encouraging students to be their authentic selves, remain lifelong students and recognize need in their own communities and beyond. His autobiography, Starting Small and Making it Big: An Entrepreneur's Journey to Billion-Dollar Philanthropist, was also required reading for last year's incoming first-year students.
