OLPH Mission Grammar School

Emmanuel’s partnership with Mission Grammar School is a true collaboration that brings urban youth to Emmanuel’s campus and offers education majors the opportunity to gain practical teaching experience.

Emmanuel has a longstanding collaborative relationship with the Old Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Mission Grammar School in Roxbury Crossing. Many of Mission Grammar's administration and faculty are graduates of Emmanuel College, including Principal Maura Bradley '96 and Assistant Principal Ali Dutson '05, and Emmanuel's Education Department regularly places students in internships and pre-practicum roles.

Emmanuel students dedicate their time to Mission Grammar School through various service outlets, including the annual New Student Day of Service, the annual Spring Day of Service, the yearly Volunteer Fair, the Four-Year Service Program, Community Service Federal Work Study, and various other events such as Dr. Seuss Day, Trick or Treating at Emmanuel, Easter-themed events and field days.

Members of Emmanuel's Education Club also interact with students through the Kids to College program, which brings low-income students to Emmanuel's campus, as well as through monthly discussion groups with eight graders and the Mission Grammar after-school program. Emmanuel College and the Jean Yawkey Center for Community Leadership also provide gym space for practice and home games during the OLPH Mission Saints boys' basketball season as part of Emmanuel's youth program.
