A wide range of education benefits are available to veterans and their dependents through the United States Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Emmanuel College is grateful to all veterans for their service and is committed to helping them achieve their educational goals. A wide range of education benefits are available to veterans and their dependents through the
United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). We encourage veterans to explore the easy-to-navigate Veterans Benefits Administration website, which contains detailed information on the variety of benefits and their respective eligibility criteria. Once the range of benefits have been reviewed, the application process may begin .
Yellow Ribbon Program
Emmanuel is proud to help make a quality private education affordable for veterans by participating in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program). This program, which is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, allows institutions of higher learning (degree-granting institutions) in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the VA to fund tuition and fees exceeding the maximum annual tuition benefit under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The institution can contribute up to 50% of expenses over the cap, and the VA will match the same amount as the institution.
Qualifying veterans enrolled full-time in our traditional arts and sciences curriculum for the 2013-14 academic year received approximately $18,077.50 in scholarship assistance (50% funded by Emmanuel College and 50% funded by the VA). For more information regarding the Yellow Ribbon Program please visit the VA website or contact the Office of Student Financial Services at Emmanuel College.
Montgomery GI Bill
The Montgomery GI Bill offers benefits for Veterans who completed their service prior to 9/11. The Department of Veterans Affairs
GI Bill website is a great resource for both current and prospective students eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill, as well as their dependents. The site provides information on education benefit programs and toll-free numbers for VA program information, as well as links to VA forms, electronic application for benefits, payment rates and web-based verification. For additional assistance, call 1-888-GI-BILL-1 (1-888-442-4551) to speak with a Veterans Benefits Counselor.
MGIB Verification (Web Automated Verification of Enrollment/WAVE)
If you receive GI bill benefits, you must verify your attendance status monthly. Once our Registrar's Office has certified your enrollment, you may use this site to complete monthly verification online. It is often quicker and easier to do this online than it is to call the verification number (1-877-823-2378). The MGIB Verification Website also offers individual benefit status information, certified periods of enrollment and recent direct deposit information.
Reserve Educational Assistance Program
Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP), or Chapter 1607, is an education benefit available to certain reservists who were activated for at least 90 days after September 11, 2001. You will find general information in this
REAP Questions and Answers pamphlet on the U.S. VA website and further details through the Questions and Answers search function.
