Exchange Programs

Emmanuel College offers two exchange programs for students in specific majors.

Exchange Program to Weimar, Germany

Weimar is well known because of its large cultural heritage and its importance in German history.

Weimar, Germany, is steeped in culture and its importance in German history. In the early 20th century, artists and architects like Henry van de Velde, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Lyonel Feininger and Walter Gropius came to the city and founded the Bauhaus movement, the most important German design school of the interwar period. Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has been an institution of art and architecture for more than 150 years. Arnold Böcklin, Franz von Lenbach, Max Liebermann, Theodor Hagen and Christian Rohlfs, among others, were associated with Weimar as teachers and/or students. Over the years, the school expanded and now houses four facilities of Architecture and Urbanism, Civil Engineering, Art and Design and Media. More than 4,000 students are enrolled at the university, including 450 foreign students.

Cost
Tuition: Emmanuel College tuition Estimated Living Expenses (monthly): approximately 690€ per month plus one-time 160€ Student Union fee. All regional and long-distance train & bus travel within the state of Thuringia is inclusive in the Student Union Fee.

Financial Aid
Students may use institutional, federal and state aid on tuition only for this program and will be billed by Emmanuel College for tuition only. Students will pay living expenses directly while in Germany.

Courses Available
There is a mandatory intensive German language course in March of the spring term. The other courses typically do not become available until a few weeks prior to the start of the semester, but they are primarily art courses.

Exchange Program to Jönköping, Sweden

Jönköping is one of Sweden's ten largest cities and it is beautifully situated at the juncture of three sprawling lakes. It is approximately three hours from Stockholm and has a vibrant student community and international community. Just a short walk from campus you will find the long sandy beaches of Lake Vättern. There is a wide range of leisure and sports facilities and the great outdoors is within easy reach, offering forests, mountains and lakes. Jönköping also has a wide variety of cultural venues: theaters, museums, cinemas and concert halls.

Accomodations
Jönköping University guarantees international students accommodations in one of the university's off-campus housing partners in either shared apartments or student residences.
