Career + Internship Opportunities

At Emmanuel, student teaching and internships are considered a priceless component of a student's education experience. All education majors must complete a student-teaching practicum and many students also participate in an internship before graduating. They recognize that such experiences go above and beyond names they can put on their resumes. For them, student teaching and internships are practical. Tangible. Real. They are essential opportunities in a student's journey towards a professional career.

Student Teaching
An application for the student teaching practicum must be filed with Education Department during the second semester of the junior year. The application must include the following:

  • Evidence of successful completion of all required MTEL tests. Note: Any student who does not achieve passing scores on the required subject matter MTEL will NOT be admitted into student teaching.
  • A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and a minimum grade of C (2.0) in each education course and in each course required by the major.
  • Receive positive Professional Disposition Quality (PDQ) reports from course instructors and field supervisors.
  • An interview with an education department faculty member focusing on the student's readiness for the student teaching practicum.

Beyond the required student teaching practicum, Emmanuel students have interned at such sites as the Museum of Fine Arts, Mission Grammar School and the Winsor School. Learn more »
