Requesting Transcripts

Current students can view their official grades online via Student Planning at the end of each semester. All students receive mid-semester grades. While mid-semester grades are not transcripted, they can be viewed on Student Planning. The College will withhold copies of grade reports and transcripts of students under certain conditions, such as outstanding financial obligations and non-compliance with Massachusetts Immunization Law.

Following the guidelines of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, your Emmanuel College transcript provides a comprehensive academic record that reflects all Emmanuel academic coursework completed (including both undergraduate and graduate work), degrees awarded, and credit earned by examination, as well as credit for courses that were transferred from other institutions.

Please note that transcripts for students who attended prior to 2000 and those requests with additional documentation to be completed and sent along with the transcript may take additional time as manual review of these requests is needed.

If you are a prospective graduate or need currently enrolled grades on your transcript, please see the TRANSCRIPTS FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS AND THOSE WITH IN-PROGRESS COURSEWORK section below for more information. Due to the automated nature of our transcript request process, we are unable to hold requests until the grades/degree are posted. Your degree will be posted on your transcript after your degree conferral date.

Official Emmanuel College Transcripts for electronic or paper delivery through Parchment, Emmanuel's transcript partner. All official transcripts must be ordered and paid for via Parchment whether the student is having the transcript emailed, mailed in hard copy, or picked up at the Office of the Registrar at Emmanuel College.

Electronic Transcripts: Parchment adheres to all FERPA and state privacy regulations and is blue-ribbon certified, sending digital records that cannot be altered securely to recipients. Official eTranscripts can be delivered to any valid email address via secure certified PDF. The recipient is notified by email to download the PDF transcript from a secure website. They will receive a separate email with a password to enter on the Parchment site to download the transcript.  You have the option of attaching files to the transcript order (such as for the Common App, LSAT, MCAS, etc.); you will need to upload electronic copies of any documents that need to be included with your order. Before selecting this option, it is recommended that you check with the transcript recipient to confirm they accept electronic transcript delivery. Please note that e-transcripts are available to download for a limited time only. Email recipients will have the ability to download the document up to 7 times within 30 days of delivery. Please be sure to notify any third-party recipients of this information. If you are sending the e-transcript to yourself, we highly recommend saving the document in a secure location on your personal computer.

Paper Transcripts: Paper transcripts may be mailed or picked up in the Office of the Registrar at Emmanuel College. Paper transcripts may take slightly longer to process as they are not auto-generated via the Parchment system and are processed during normal Parchment business hours. If your transcript is time-sensitive, we highly encourage you to request an electronic version of your transcript over the paper version. Standard shipping takes 7-10 days. Standard air mail delivery to international destinations (including Canada and Mexico) is 3-5 weeks. Expedited mailing is available through FedEx for an additional charge. See below for details. FedEx does not deliver to P.O. Boxes.

Students who require transcripts that include in-progress courses with their final grades posted or graduating students who require  their degree posted to their transcript, should ensure that grades and/or the degree conferral has been posted to their records.

Current students can confirm by viewing their unofficial transcript on EC Online Services, under the Academics tab, then Unofficial Transcript.  If you need outstanding grades posted or your degree has not yet been posted and you require this information, wait to submit your transcript request until you have confirmed. Otherwise, your transcript will be automatically sent out and may not have the information you need.

Please note: Mid-semester grades are not posted on the transcript. If you require mid-semester grades, you may view them on EC Online Services under Academics Tab, then the Grades tab.

Please note the following deadlines are when grades are due. However, sometimes faculty may submit grades late, so always check your unofficial transcript first (not just EC Learn) to ensure your grades have been posted prior to submitting your order for a transcript.

  • Arts + Sciences Fall or Spring Courses: Wednesday at 10 a.m. after the final exam period ends
  • Arts + Sciences Summer Courses: Five (5) calendar days after the course term ends by 11:59 p.m.

  • Undergraduate GPP 7-week Courses: Five (5) calendar days after the course ends by 11:59 p.m

  • Graduate Courses (except Nursing): Five (5) calendar days after the course ends by 11:59 p.m.

  • Graduate Nursing (MSN) Courses: Wednesday, the day Arts + Sciences Fall/Spring grades due by 10 a.m.

Degree Conferral Transcript Posting

Similarly, the degree conferral is posted once all necessary record confirmations are completed and while the dates below are the typically dates for posting the degree to the transcript, graduates should check their unofficial transcript to confirm the degree is posted on the transcript. Please note that students who finish their final degree requirements over the summer, whether at Emmanuel or via transfer credit, will be considered December graduates and should refer to the December graduation conferral posting date. Students who complete over the summer and have all requirements complete, may request a letter of requirement completion in the interim until the degree is posted using the following form: Degree Requirement Completion Letter Request.

  • Degree Conferral: Degree Typically Posted to Transcript
  • May Graduation: Tuesday after May Commencement Ceremony

  • December Graduation: Second business day after College reopens after Christmas Break (typically January 3rd, unless this date falls on the weekend or Monday)

Transcript Key

Emmanuel College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc.).

Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended, it is not permissible to release information from the enclosed transcript to a third party without the written consent of the student. More information can be viewed on our Privacy Page.

Emmanuel College operates on a semester hour system. Undergraduate courses generally bear four semester hours. Graduate courses generally bear three semester hours. Full-time undergraduates complete from three to five four credit courses (12-20 credits) over the semester. Graduate students typically take at least two 3-credit courses (6 credits) over the semester, with 9 credits considered full-time.

Majors lead to either a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Science (B.S.), or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (B.F.A.). Typically, majors leading to a B.A. require 40 to 48 credits, whereas majors leading to the B.S. or B.F.A. require between 60 and 68 credits. At least 50% of the credit hours counting towards the major requirements must be completed at Emmanuel. A minimum grade of C is required to fulfill major requirements. Nursing grade requirements are available in the Nursing Student Handbook for specific course grade requirements.

Students may elect to have a double major by fulfilling all the requirements for a major in two different departments. Students who successfully complete two majors only earn one degree. Double majors must complete distinct separate capstone courses to earn the double major. Each major must have a minimum of 40 credits (typically 10 courses) that are distinctive to the major department.

Minor programs typically consist of 20 to 24 credits, at least 12 of which are completed at Emmanuel.

Students are allowed to declare up to three academic programs (major and minors) –with no more than two majors – and use courses to satisfy the requirements in all programs. Students may pursue two majors within an academic department; however, they may not choose two concentrations within an academic department. While course overlaps are permitted between majors, major capstone requirements cannot overlap to fulfill capstones for two majors. Students must complete two distinct capstone requirements- one for each major. An internship that serves as a capstone for one major, cannot count for a capstone for another major. Internship courses may be used to satisfy the internship requirement for more than one major if the internship appropriate for the second major and with written approval by both department chairs, unless internships are the capstone experience. Majors constitute a minimum of 40 credits within the department, and while course requirement overlaps may be permitted, each major must have a minimum of 40 credits (typically 10 courses) that are distinctive to the major department.

The individualized major (IM) is designed for students whose career goals and intellectual interests can best be served through a carefully constructed individualized major program. The individualized major is appropriate for highly motivated and self-directed students.

Credit for college level academic work completed at another regionally accredited post-secondary institution with a grade of “C” (2.0) or better for undergraduates or “B” (3.0) or better for graduate students and high school dual enrollment courses may be transferred if the course is appropriate to the curriculum at Emmanuel College and meets the transfer credit policies. See the Transfer Credit Pages for more information.

Emmanuel students are encouraged to enrich their educational experience through an approved program abroad. student can study abroad for a year, semester or summer, as well as through short-term programs led by Emmanuel or Colleges of the Fenway faculty. The semester programs may also include exchange programs with Bauhaus University in Germany, Jönköping University in Sweden or the Emmanuel in Leeds program in the United Kingdom. Study abroad courses follow the policies for transfer credit, but students who study abroad through approved Emmanuel College study abroad programs will have their study abroad courses considered in residence.

    HONORS PROGRAM

The Emmanuel College Honors Program invites highly motivated and talented students to participate in academic opportunities that prepare them for advanced study and successful competition for scholarships and fellowships. The program develops high-level skills in creative, critical and ethical thinking and communication. It also provides students with teamwork and leadership skills in honors courses and through service and research opportunities. In order to graduate in the Honors Program, a student is required to complete fours honors courses, to complete the “Honors Experience,” which may involve working with a faculty member as an Instructional Assistant (Fellow) or a Research Assistant, or participating in a study abroad experience; and to work toward distinction in the field within his/her own major. Courses within the Honors Program are designated with the HONOR departmental prefix.

Emmanuel and four of its neighboring colleges—Massachusetts College of Art and Design, MCPHS University, Simmons University and Wentworth Institute of Technology—comprise the Colleges of the Fenway consortium, a collaboration that benefits students by offer in cross-registration to second-semester freshmen or above. Wheelock College was a member of the COF Consortium prior to its merger with Boston University in June 2018. Students may take up to two courses each semester at a COF institution. Courses taken through the Colleges of the Fenway consortium are considered in-residence and will have the host institution grade on the Emmanuel transcript and factor into the Emmanuel GPA. Course descriptions and syllabi for COF courses should be obtained directly from the institution in which hosted the course. COF courses will bear these department prefixes:

    COF Colleges of the Fenway

MCA Massachusetts College of Art and Design

MCP Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

SIMM Simmons College (Now Simmons University)

    Requesting a Duplicate Diploma

Our students are presented with their actual diploma on stage at commencement. If an additional diploma is needed, learn about the process for requesting a duplicate diploma.

Unlike many institutions in the US, graduates at Emmanuel will be presented with their actual diploma as they cross the stage. This includes any students who are December graduates and attend the commencement ceremony in May. While we do not keep copies of students' diplomas, a graduate may request a duplicate diploma.

Download the Duplicate Diploma Request Form. A diploma reprint has a $25 fee.
