Level One Internships

Level One Internships are an opportunity for students to receive a transcript notation for completing an internship that is outside of the academic program requirements. Our students are ambitious and many complete internships as early as their first year at Emmanuel College. The Level One Internship program was created to provide students with an option for internship employers that require an academic affiliation for the experience.

Because Emmanuel College academic internship courses are restricted to seniors, the INT 1010 course was created to provide students with an academic affiliation to the institution and is offered in the fall, spring and summer terms. The course is graded on a pass/fail basis and may be repeated multiple times. Students will receive a transcript notation for successfully completing the internship and associated course requirements. INT 1010 is a zero-credit course and is free of charge to students.

We will provide enrollment verification in writing to employers who seek proof of academic affiliation. The Career Center will not sign any agreement/verification holding the College responsible for an intern's actions (hold harmless agreement).

The INT 1001 class is required before enrolling in INT 1010: Level One Internship. INT 1001 is a four-week course that is offered during the fall, spring and summer terms in traditional and online sections and is available for sophomores, juniors and seniors. The course is offered at no cost to students and is a no-credit transcript notation.

However, we do make exceptions on a case-by-case basis for students who have successfully obtained internships on their own. Instructor permission is required to enroll in the INT 1010 course and can be obtained by contacting the Career Center.

Prior to enrollment, you will need to complete a Level One Internship form and return it to the Career Center in Marian 214. Midway through the term, you will be asked to check in with the instructor about your experiences. At the end of the term, you will be asked to write a short reflection paper, complete a self-evaluation and submit an evaluation from your supervisor.

Students must complete at least 60 hours of work and internships may be paid or unpaid.

Complete a Level One Internship form and an Add/Drop form with the instructor's signature to complete your enrollment in the course. Students must be registered by the Add/Drop deadline to participate in the INT 1010 course. The INT 1010 course is offered at no cost to students.
