Founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1919, the mission of Emmanuel College is based on the principles of the order: a passion for education as "the greatest work on earth," a commitment to the poor, a global apostolic mission, a life that balances prayer and action, a focus on community building, and an abiding and deeply rooted trust in the goodness of God.
Emmanuel's students embrace this focus on community building, with 80% of our students participating in community service throughout the city. One of Emmanuel's continual commitments is to Mission Grammar, a neighboring elementary school.
