Nola R. Della-Monica has had a varied career in clinical nursing, nursing management and nursing education. From 1991-1999 she served in various management positions in home health agencies, including the administrator position at Visiting Nurses & Hospice of San Francisco. She then served as the Director of Cardiac, Respiratory and Neurologic services from 1999-2003. Since 2003 she has taught nursing, and served as an interim BSN program coordinator. Her doctoral research was a meta-synthesis of qualitative studies concerning nurse-patient encounters, and development of an instrument measuring the patient’s perception of feeling cared for by the nurse. She has also been a co-investigator in a funded study concerning older women’s perceptions of breast cancer risk. Dr. Della-Monica has presented her research regionally, nationally, and internationally. She has published in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Della-Monica has held membership and leadership roles in professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International, the Honor Society of Nursing.
