The Frogs is a comedy written by the Ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes. It tells the story of Dionysus – the raucous god of theatre and inebriation – who wants to visit the Underworld to see his favorite playwright, the deceased Euripides. Dionysus first gets directions from his half-brother Heracles then he and his slave Xanthius start on their journey toward Hades. The pair cross the River Styx with the hellish boatman Charon, where they are mocked by a chorus of frogs, and eventually Dionysus is called upon to be a judge in a contest between playwrights Euripides and the recently dead Aeschylus.
A Midsummer Night's Dream
A Midsummer Night's Dream is a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare. The story of Midsummer involves two sets of couples (Hermia and Lysander, and Helena and Demetrius) whose romantic paths cross and are complicated further by their entrance into the play's fairyland woods where they encounter two very different groups of characters. The first is a band of fairies, including Oberon, the fairy king, and Titania, his queen. The second is a band of Athenian craftsmen rehearsing a play that they hope to perform for the duke and his bride. As the play unfolds it illustrates that Love triumphs in the end and there is pleasure in Dreaming the Impossible Dream.
