Art Education
We believe art education changes people. It opens doors. Emmanuel will prepare, fulfill and enrich you as you learn how to open new doors for others.
Your Departments.
Art education combines the practical and the creative. Learn the history and philosophical foundations of education in America through the Education Department, then hone your creativity as you learn new processes and explore new mediums in the Art Department.
Your City.
Boston is a city rich in education and inspiration. The art education program provides opportunities for field-based experiences in urban school settings.
Your Future.
Your degree prepares you to teach art at the elementary or secondary level. In preparation for this future, the Education Department assists students in preparing for their Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) and in placement for student teaching positions.
Requirements
Students who wish to pursue an art education major must major in studio art and minor in education. Two pre-practica and a teaching practicum are required.
Students are required to have an advisor in both the art department and the education department.
