Activities & Athletics

With over 90 clubs, organizations and activities on campus, in addition to 14 NCAA Division III athletic teams, life at Emmanuel College extends far beyond the classroom. This amazing level of extracurricular activity takes support, and that’s where you come in. Your contribution to the Annual Fund is essential to the success of every student club, activity and team. Here are three exceptional students who appreciate your support.
Cat Lariviere
Class president. Double major. Triple captain.
A double major in elementary education and liberal studies, senior class president, a three-sport athlete and captain of the Saints’ cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Needless to say, Cat has certainly made a name for herself in the Emmanuel community.
Last fall, she set several course and program records and won an incredible three out of six cross-country meets. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) voted her “Runner of the Week” six times, and ultimately named her the GNAC Cross Country Women’s Runner of the Year – a first for Emmanuel’s program.
Balancing such a hectic schedule takes a great deal of endurance. When it comes to making the most of her experience as an Emmanuel student, Cat certainly goes the distance.
Sarah Soldano
She’s a runner, a writer and a traveler.
Sarah, a sprint and jump specialist for the indoor and outdoor track teams, was the Saints’ MVP during the 2008 winter and spring campaigns. As an athlete, Sarah knows how to fly. But athletics isn’t the only thing that gives her wings.
When she’s not harnessing her speed or practicing her approach, Sarah spends her time perfecting her love for writing and art. The president of the College’s literary publication, BANG! Magazine, Sarah’s longtime interest in creative writing is realized with each issue.
Taking a season off from track to explore her passion for the arts in France, Sarah plans on running when she gets back. The team will certainly be happy for her return.
Michael Townsend
Recruited for his defensive skills. But it didn’t stop there.
Michael, a junior, was not only on the starting team as a freshman, but was also named GNAC Rookie of the Week a number of times. His power jump serve also earned him the honor of being one of the top four servers in the nation.
With a 36-inch vertical leap and an unmatched passion for his sport, Michael was recruited by Division I schools but passed them up to come play volleyball at Emmanuel. Why? He wanted his love of volleyball to have a balance with his desire to excel academically.
He still has two seasons left, and we expect that more honors, both on and off the court, await him.
Remember what made your time here special?
Help us keep that alive.
Whether it was history, singing, playing club baseball or seeing your words published in a magazine, extracurricular activities played a key part in your experience here. A part of every donation to the Annual Fund goes to support the 90-plus co-curricular clubs, activities and organizations here at the College. We, and our students, couldn’t be more thankful for your help.
