During my college search, I initially assumed that a larger school would offer greater opportunities for research in the sciences. Then I found Emmanuel College. With its newly built Wilkens Science Center and prime location in the Longwood Medical Area, it was the ideal place for me to take my interest in Biology to the next level.

Being able to work directly with my professor on research is something I had only dreamed of. Since freshman year I've had the opportunity to work side by side with Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Josef Kurtz, assisting him with his research on Type 1 Diabetes.

The Science Living Learning Center is one of my favorite aspects of residing on campus here at Emmanuel. A floor inhabited solely by science majors provides an easily accessible community that also functions as a resource to help with difficult homework assignments or study for an exam. It's like having a constantly available study session just down the hall.
