COF’s Global Education Opportunities Center Moves to Emmanuel

November 12, 2009

Emmanuel is pleased to announce that the Colleges of the Fenway (COF) Global Education Opportunities (GEO) Center is now located at Emmanuel College. The Center's office is on the mezzanine level of the Cardinal Cushing Library and is a shared COF resource for preparing students to experience the global environment. The Center's main objectives are to provide access to study abroad opportunities and to guide students and faculty seeking international experience.

The GEO Center will be staffed by Director Robin Melavalin and an assistant director, as well as interns and Emmanuel students. GEO Center hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Melavalin and the assistant director will work with faculty and staff to develop, plan and market travel courses to students at Emmanuel and the Colleges of the Fenway. The Center will also work with administrators and faculty to advise students about travel abroad opportunities through information sessions held here on Emmanuel's campus, study abroad fairs and pre-departure orientation sessions for students.

Emmanuel students interested in study abroad opportunities will initially work with Study Abroad Coordinator Diane Bissaro, who will guide them through the process, provide information on on-campus information sessions, and direct them in next steps. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with GEO Center staff to discuss different programs and providers in one-on-one sessions held at the Center. Diane Bissaro's office is Room 324 of the Administration Building. She can be reached at 617 735-9713 or bissardi@emmanuel.edu.

Emmanuel's partnership with the GEO Center is an exciting opportunity for the College community to enhance international study opportunities. Students from all of the COF
institutions will be using this resource, so please welcome these visitors to our campus. Visit our International Programs web page for the latest information and our web site calendar for GEO Center events.
