Academic Advising Program Featured in National Handbook

January 02, 2009

The College’s Academic Advising Department had its program “Confronting the Complexities and Challenges of Change” featured in the 2008 edition of Academic Advising: A Comprehensive Handbook, a publication of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). The handbook was recently distributed at the NACADA annual conference in Chicago in early October.

In 2006 the department’s program was one of four programs nationwide to be honored with an Outstanding Institutional Advising Program award. Subsequently, Associate Dean of Academic Advising Carolyn Caveny was contacted about being featured in the handbook, one of the most comprehensive and well-known references on academic advising.

“I was not only delighted that our institution was nationally acknowledged, but I was especially proud that we were recognized for our exemplary practices,” said Caveny.
