RecycleMania
The 2012 dates have been set: From February 5th to March 31st, Emmanuel will participate for its second year in the RecycleMania Tournament. Stay tuned for more details!
Last year, 630 colleges and universities took part in this eight-week challenge that ignites classic college rivalries, rallying students, faculty and staff to increase on-campus recycling rates beyond their collegiate competitors. Overall, 91 million pounds of recyclables and organic materials were recovered, which prevented the release of nearly 270 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2E). This reduction in greenhouse gases is equivalent to the annual emissions from more than 52.8 million passenger cars; electricity use of more than 32.7 million homes; or the burning of nearly 1.5 million railcars’ worth of coal.
Our faculty, staff, and students are clearly committed to making Emmanuel a more sustainable institution. The College’s recycling rates have significantly improved over this time last year. See for yourself: This is something to be proud of!

There are still many ways to continue to grow our recycling program and waste reduction efforts on campus. We are hard at work identifying them and excited about implementation in the near future.
